Series: Young & Present/Still Here
This social documentary photography project shines a light on young Black fathers, challenging the negative stereotypes often associated with Black fatherhood. Young & Present celebrates those who have not only embraced the role of fatherhood but have done so while navigating the unique challenges of being young.
The accompanying Still Here series serves as a sequel, capturing the enduring presence of Black fathers throughout their children’s lives. It highlights their commitment, resilience, and steadfast love, further dismantling harmful stereotypes.
Through these two series, my goal is to present a positive and authentic narrative of Black fatherhood—one that reflects strength, stability, and deep care. This work seeks to affirm and honor the powerful presence of Black fathers in their families and communities.
Series: Untitled Film Stills
This series represents my desire to create something I can take pride in—something that proves my capabilities as an artist. These untitled film stills form a collection of narrative images not tied to a singular overarching story. Instead, they stand alone, each open to interpretation.
I worked with everyday people as actors—some eager, others hesitant—but each brought something unique to the frame. Through collaboration and direction, I captured genuine emotions and raw expressions from each subject. The images may evoke specific emotions or themes, but their meaning is ultimately left to the viewer’s imagination.
I hope that these stills hold your attention and invite you to linger, finding new layers each time you look. After all, my goal was to create something not just to be seen, but to be observed and remembered.
Series: Your Favorite Photo
Your Favorite Photo is a portrait series dedicated to transforming how people see themselves. Through model-like lighting, expressive poses, and thoughtful guidance, I aim to create images that could become each subject’s favorite photo of themselves.
This project celebrates the power of photography to reveal what people often overlook in themselves. By blending authentic moments with subtle stylistic choices—whether it’s through natural attire or something slightly daring—I invite each person to see themselves in a new way. It’s not about changing who they are but uncovering the confidence and beauty that already exists.
With every portrait, I hope to spark a shift in perspective—a moment when someone looks at their photo and feels extraordinary. Sometimes, all it takes is seeing yourself in the right light to recognize the beauty that’s been there all along.
